Senna Leaf Extract
Sennosides is a diterpene derivative of the traditional Chinese medicine Senna leaf. It is an effective part of senna leaf and is the main active ingredient of senna leaf diarrhea and hemostasis. Senna leaves are distributed in various provinces in southern China and are produced in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hunan and other places.
1.Senna Leaf Extract can clear stomach and purge heat, defaecate and use diuretic of hydragogue to alleviate water retention;
2.Senna Leaf Extract also helps to temporarily prevent fluid from being absorbed from the large intestine, thus contributing to softer stools;

Active ingredients
Senna angustifolia contains sennoside C, namely Rhein aloe emodin dianthone 8,8 ‘- diglucoside. In addition to sennoside A and B, there are glucosides of rhein and chrysophanol, and trace aloe emodin or emodin glucoside in pods.
Senna acuminata and legume contain 0.85-2.86% and 2.34-3.16% of stilbene, respectively. Rhein, aloe emodin, a small amount of chrysophanol and sennoside a, B and C are separated from them. These anthracenes all exist as glycosides.
This plant also contains 3,5-dimethyl-4-methoxybenzoic acid. Senna auriculata contains tannin, anthocyanin in leaves and polyphenol oxidase in bark.
The active ingredient in Senna is called sennoside. This component molecule is converted by microorganisms in the colon to another substance, Rhein anthrone, which has beneficial effects on stimulating colonic activity (which accelerates intestinal peristalsis and improves digestion) and increasing fluid secretion.
The laxative effect of sennoside and its active metabolite, anthrone rhein, are believed to inhibit the absorption of water and electrolyte by the large intestine, thereby increasing the volume and pressure of intestinal contents.
It will stimulate the propulsive contraction of the colon. In addition, the stimulating effect on the secretion of active chloride increased the contents of water and electrolyte in intestine. These changes in the transport of the active electrolyte depend on the calcium element on the surface of the slurry.
The laxative effect of sennoside is partly mediated by the stimulation of colonic fluid and electrolyte secretion, which is regulated by the stimulation of endogenous prostaglandin formation. pharmacological action
1. Antibacterial effect: 10% senna leaf extract has obvious inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli, proteus, dysentery, Streptococcus A and leucococcus. Some hydroxyanthraquinones in senna leaves have antibacterial activity. The ethanol extract of senna ovale has inhibitory effect on many kinds of bacteria, such as Staphylococcus, diphtheria, typhoid, paratyphoid, Escherichia coli, etc., but its water extract is only effective on typhoid. The water extract of senna (1:4) had inhibitory effect on dermatophytes such as o’duchenne and Nocardia stellata in vitro.
2. Hemostasis: oral administration of senna powder can increase platelet and fibrinogen, shorten coagulation time, recalcification time, thromboplastin time and clot contraction time, and help to stop bleeding. The crystal fibers and calcium oxalate cluster crystals in Senna have local hemostatic effect.
3. Effect on digestive system: Senna is a kind of chemical Book laxative. Recent studies have found that Senna can not only stimulate the release of PG from colonic mucosa (which is considered to be a mechanism of diarrhea), but also increase the level of PG in gastric body and antrum of rats. Senna can prevent the damage of gastric mucosa caused by high-dose indomethacin, which may be due to its antagonism to the inhibition of the latter on the cyclooxygenase (PG synthetase) of gastric mucosa.
