Pomegranate extract botanical origin, (Punica granatum L in Latin), deciduous trees or shrubs. Pomegranate extract have three active ingredients: ellagic acid, punicalagin and polyphenol. Pomegranate extract with the function of antineoplastic and anti-oxidant. It also can reduce blood press.
The pomegranate (Punica Granatum L.) is packed with healthy anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory agents with healthful benefits. The potent antioxidant activities of pomegranate are attributed to its phenolic compounds including punicalagin. Punicalagin is a water-soluble ellagitannin with high bioavailability. It is found in forms alpha and beta in pomegranate. And not only does punicalagins offer a powerful kick of antioxidant properties on their own, it can be hydrolyzed into smaller phenolic compounds such as ellagic acid in vivo where one potential mechanism is hydrolysis across the mitochondrial membrane of cultured human colon cells. It is a highly active carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and extensively metabolized. The pomegranate extracts, especially normalized to punicalagins is Generally Recognized As Safe’ (GRAS) by the United States.
