Gynostemma Extract Powder Gypenoside

Gynostemma extract (Jiaogulan) belongs to the genus Gynostemma, which grows in the southeastern regions of China. It is a climbing vine, attaching itself to supports using tendrils. Gynostemma is sometimes referred to as “Southern Ginseng” because it grows in south central China and is used in similar ways as ginseng.

Gynostemma extract powder is a general name of more than fifty different saponins isolated from gynostemma. These saponins, called gypenosides, are extremely similar to ginsenosides, so it was considered to be fundamentally equivalent to ginsenosides found in Panax Ginseng and American Ginseng. However, the varieties of saponins found in gynostemma were more likely to have broader adaptogenic capabilities.
